Higher Education
Having established and headed Trinity College of Music’s (www.tcm.ac.uk) Jazz Faculty (1999-2004), Issie now holds the position of Trinity College’s Senior Jazz Fellow, giving her more time for her compositional and touring activities, while still enabling her to contribute towards the College’s ever developing Jazz programme as well as directing the College’s Contemporary Jazz Ensemble (who have performed at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, as well as London venues, such as Blackheath Halls, Jazz in the Round, Ronnie Scotts and The Bulls Head).

During 2007 Issie will also be leading performance and composition projects at the Royal Northern College of Music (www.rncm.ac.uk) and Leeds College of Music (www.lcm.ac.uk) where she’ll be co-leading the Conservatoires UK Big Band http://www.lcm.ac.uk/research-conference/cuk-big-band.htm which she’s co-led since 2001, working along side fellow artists and educators Bob Mintzer, Tim Garland, Mike Hall, Julian Joseph, Gerard Presencer and Mike Gibbs and Mark Donlon as part of the Leeds International Jazz Festival http://www.lcm.ac.uk/research-conference/leeds-international-jazz-conference.htm

Issie has also been a visiting examiner for the RCM www.rcm.ac.uk, (since 2001); was co-ordinator for the Certificate in Music Studies at Goldsmiths College http://secure2.gold.ac.uk/pace/cert-music-studies.php (1998-1999); was visiting professor and project leader for the Jazz Faculty at RAM www.ram.ac.uk (1996-1999) when the jazz programme was under the leadership of composer and educationalist Graham Collier www.jazzcontinuum.com and was external examiner for the London University's external degree before its demise in 2004 (after decades of being the degree that all London universities and conservatoires used before they all went self validating!!).

Youth Projects

• Artistic Director for the Jazz Services’ National Youth Jazz Summer School , which is funded by Youth Music and will be hosted by Leeds College of Music (29th July 2007 to 5th August 2007, with a public performance on 4th August at the Venue on 6pm – 8pm) with Alec Dankworth, Kathy Dyson, Tim Garland, Julian Joseph, Mark Lockheart, Liam Noble, Jeremy Price, Dennis Rollins and Rowland Sutherland.

• Jazz adjudicator for Music for Youth’s annual national festival (2001 onwards) working along side fellow adjdicators Charlie Beale, Michael Garrick, Trevor Tomkins and Steve Waterman.

• "On the Slide, Sweet" co-led by Dennis Rollins May 2004 commissioned by Youth Music and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival May 2004. An eight movement suite for an ensemble of 40 beginner trombonists and a professional octet comprising 5 professional trombonists and rhythm section. www.cheltenhamfestivals.com

• Greenwich and Lewisham Youth Jazz Orchestra at Blackheath Halls with co-leaders Annie Whitehead and Andrea Vicari (2004-5) with termly performances at Blackheath Halls and Deptford Albany Theatre.

• Composer in residence for various educational projects led by the Philharmonia Orchestra and Age of Enlightenment’s education department with residencies in Bedford, Basingstoke, Leicester and various London boroughs (1996 – 2000)

Jazz Exam syllabi
Issie was one of the composers commissioned by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music to write piano accompaniments for their new jazz horn syllabi grades 1 to 5.
